What to Expect at Your First Brow Wax Appointment

If you have booked your first brow wax with us, we are so excited to welcome you. This is one of the quickest, easiest services we offer, and the results are immediate. Here is exactly what happens at your appointment.

What Is a Brow Wax?

A brow wax is a quick shaping service that removes unwanted hair around your brows for a clean, defined shape. It includes a consultation about your goals, brow mapping to find the most flattering shape for your face, and gentle waxing or tweezing to achieve the shape.

We use a sensitive wax that works for all skin types. View all our brow services on our service page.

Before You Come In

A few simple things to keep in mind:

  • Avoid AHAs, Retin-A, chemical peels, or Botox/filler at least 48 to 72 hours before

  • Do not tweeze your brows for at least 1 to 2 weeks before to give us hair to work with

  • Come with clean brows, no heavy brow makeup

  • Let us know if you have any allergies or sensitivities

When You Arrive

We greet you and get you settled on our treatment bed. If this is your first time at the studio in general, you fill out a quick form so we have your info on file.

For more on your first visit overall, read our What to Expect at Your First Visit to The Beauty Room & Co post.

Step One: Consultation

Before we touch anything, we chat about what you want. We ask:

  • What is your normal brow routine?

  • Do you want a softer or stronger shape?

  • Are there any areas you definitely want to keep full?

  • Any concerns about previous services?

This is where we listen and tailor everything to you. No two clients are the same and no two brow shapes should be either.

Step Two: Brow Mapping

We use the string method to map your brows. This means we measure your facial features to find the ideal shape that complements your face. The string helps us see exactly where your brows should start, peak, and end.

Brow mapping is what separates a generic brow wax from a customized one. For a deeper look at how we map, read our What Is Brow Mapping and Why Does It Matter post.

Tint Options

Cream tint is included at no extra charge. Hybrid tint is available as an add on for a more filled in look. For a full breakdown of both, read our Brow Lamination vs Brow Tinting: Which One Do You Actually Need post.

Step Three: The Wax

We apply a small amount of warm wax to the areas outside of your mapped shape. The wax is sensitive and gentle, designed to work on all skin types including sensitive skin.

We remove the wax in quick, controlled motions. Most clients say it is much less painful than they expected. The whole waxing portion takes just a few minutes.

Step Four: Tweezing for Detail

After the wax, we tweeze any stray hairs that the wax could not reach. This gives you clean, precise edges and a polished finish.

Step Five: Soothing the Skin

We apply a soothing balm or serum to calm the skin and reduce any redness. Most clients have minimal redness that fades within an hour.

Step Six: Optional Add Ons

If you added a hybrid tint to your service, we apply that next. Read more about cream vs hybrid tint on our blog.

After Your Appointment

Your brows look beautiful right away, but there are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Avoid touching the area for a few hours

  • Skip active skincare ingredients for 24 hours

  • Avoid heat (saunas, hot showers) for 24 hours

  • Avoid heavy sun exposure for 24 hours

  • Skip exfoliation around the brow area for 48 hours

For full aftercare details, read our How to Care for Your Brows After a Wax post.

How Long Do Results Last?

Brow wax results last 3 to 4 weeks. We recommend rebooking every 4 to 6 weeks to maintain your shape and keep new growth under control.
